015 — Introducing To Kill A Mocking Bird

We are going to be studying To Kill A Mocking Bird (TKAM) in term 2. In readiness for this, we need to do some background work on the context in which the novel is situated. The main and underlying theme in the novel is that of black slavery, its abolition and the subsequent lack of its acceptance in the southern community. In order to fully understand the tensions associated with this period of human history, we are going to view part of a documentary called Slavery And The Making Of America.
