Warm Up
When discussing a novel, we often talk about it’s THEMES. For example, the themes in Private Peaceful are war, family and loyalty, bravery, cowardice and relationships between brothers. Themes are NOT the storyline; they are areas for discussion that relate to the novel.
Choose one theme and write a paragraph to explain what the novel tells us about it.

Task
- Get into groups of four and read your paragraphs to each other. After each reading:
- Each person in the group must tell the reader one thing they agree with and one thing they disagree with
- The reader receiving the feedback needs to chose the critique they found most interesting
- Repeat this for each member of the group
- Chapter 5 of English Rules
